Today was a day for follow up appointments with my breast surgeon and my endocrinologist.
I saw Dr. Noveroske this morning just before lunch. I could have hugged him after the good news he gave us last Friday but I settled for shaking his hand and congratulating him on a successful surgery. He said he could not have asked for any better results.
It was a “relatively small tumor to begin with” and “as tiny as they find.” Ladies, NEVER EVER EVER miss a mammogram!! I have no family history of breast cancer and I nursed 4 children (something they say helps your “odds” of not getting it). The breast cancer was stage 1. Before I left his office I was set up for an appointment with Dr. Rafat Ansari on the 20th of February at 1:15pm. By that time the pathology results should be in from the thyroidectomy and both issues can be addressed at once.
My next appointment was this afternoon with Dr. Michael Tachman. He was the endocrinologist who diagnosed the PARAthyroid disease and recommended surgery. This man was very definitely used of God to bring me a step closer to being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I had not seen him since having the surgery to remove one of my parathyroid glands on December 28th. So, this appointment was part follow-up and also part talking to him about the new issue of thyroid cancer. He did not shed any new light on what I have already been told by Dr. Kletzing, my surgeon.
So, it was a good day. No, it was a great day. I am once again basking in the knowledge that my God is a great God who loves me, answers prayers, gives wisdom to those who seek Him and provides His children with comfort during trying times. My heart is full to overflowing.
My prayer requests are…
~For His peace as I approach this next surgery on the 13th of February.
~Wisdom for Dr. Kletzing as he operates. No additional cancer found anywhere else including the lymph nodes in my neck.
~Adjustment for my body as I am put on medicine to replace the thyroid hormone.
~That we would be a testimony and encouragement to others of God’s faithfulness.
Psalm 55:18a
He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me.
Praising the Lord for His leading!
